Wheat Berries for Breakfast

One of the yummy grains that has found its way into my breakfast rotation is wheat berries. They aren't as difficult to prepare as some might have you believe so I'm here to spread the word how easy they really are. Here's the recipe I use:

Ingredients:
2 cups wheat berries (from the bulk section at my grocery store)
7 cups water
dash of salt

Toppings:
Craisins, raisins, dried coconut, sliced almonds, other favorit fruits and nuts. I also like to pour vanilla almond milk over the top of mine.

Directions:
Rinse the wheat berries in a strainer and look for any stones or wheat berries that don't look right. Discard these. Add the wheat berries and 7 cups of water to a pot. Bring to a boil, reduce heat to a simmer and simmer for 1 hour. Drain the excess water and serve warm or cold with toppings.
