Measuring Cups and Spoons Organization

I saw a great idea on Pinterest not too long ago and just had to copy it. Here's the original:

My cabinets are flat and are made up of very solid thick plywood. I know this from back when I redid them. Having a 3.5 year old and an 8 week old in the house also means I don't have quite as much time as I'd like to do projects like these at the moment so I drilled and screwed the hooks straight into my cabinets and skipped the awesome labels and chart. I'm still thrilled with what I've got and the space it saves in my cabinet.

Here's what my baking cabinet looked like before the mini remodel:

It isn't bad and it was definitely highly functional but the hanging cups and spoons idea just called out to me. Here's the cabinet door after I added the hooks:

The measuring cup magnet was something I had stuck to the fridge but I think this is a much more logical spot. It shows size conversions for measuring. Here's how I stuck it on (since it is a magnet and my doors aren't metal):

While I was at it, I picked up a cool magnet strip from the clearance aisle at the craft store. I hung it up above the stove so I can stick a recipe to it while I cook.

So, here's what the cabinets look like now after this $2.50 makeover ($2.40 for the magnet strip, estimated $.10 for the hooks but I had them on hand so it's a tough call):

I hope this gives you some ideas. I'm pretty excited about these minor changes. Please remember to make sure your measuring cups and spoons hang high enough not to hit any shelves or your doors won't shut. This is a super simple project, it took me about 15 minutes . . . spread over 3 days. Crafting sure is slow these days but I'm spending most of my spare time snuggling with my favorite boys.

Thank you for reading,
Julie
