In case you hadn't heard, Seattle is getting completely blasted by snow and freezing rain. The volume isn't that huge compared to what some get in other parts of the country but the problem is that we're ill equipped (not enough snow plows) and it is really hilly so it is easy to get stuck just about anywhere you go. I've been stuck at home for the past three days with the boys as my car handles better in the snow and the hubs is a nurse so he couldn't miss work. He's also the boss and in order to keep staffing levels up, he plays chauffeur to a handful of his employees who either can't or won't drive in this kind of weather.
Anyway... on to the point of this post:
SNOW ICE CREAM!!! (yum yum)
I introduced the Snickerdoodle to it last night and he loved it. I was also instantly transported back to my own childhood. There are lots of recipes out there on the net but this is the one we used:
4 cups of fresh snow (give or take, we filled a bowl)
2 Tbsp white sugar
1 Tbsp vanilla (less if you're not a huge vanilla fan)
1/2 cup milk (we used vanilla soy milk)
Optional: Sprinkles
Collect the snow in a big bowl.
Add the other ingredients.
Mix well.
Scoop it out and add sprinkles.
Share with a friend and enjoy.
Thank you for reading,
Julie
Oh wow! We so need to try out this recipe with all our snow!!! Yes, we feel trapped in our own home, too! We're going stir-crazy!!
ReplyDeleteI had to make a second batch to get photos. Technically right now I've got brain freeze from trying to eat that whole big bowl of it. I'm also wondering if I'm going to be tipsy from consuming so much vanilla extract. ;)
ReplyDeleteI just shared your recipe on my FB page! Thanks for the inspiration! https://www.facebook.com/pages/Michelle-Paige/182495291815164
ReplyDeleteI saw your post on The Frugal Girls Chic & Craft Party. We live in the Seattle area and put our snow to good use making snow ice cream a few days ago. I'm looking forward to poking around your blog tonight! Stay warm!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing my recipe! Is it wrong that I'm craving it still and can't find a pile of snow to save my life? Sooooo sad.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by! I hope you enjoyed looking around.
